How long can white gas stay in a MSR fuel bottle?

How long before it has any negative effects on the bottle or how long before the white gas goes bad?

The gas won't have any negative effects on the bottle itself, however the plastic they make the stoppers out of and the o-rings along the top of the stopper will eventually degrade if left in contact with the white gas for a long time. Also, after a long time of storing the white gas (3+ years), it does start to slowly degrade, becoming less clean burning and dirtying up your stove's valves more. If you need to store it for more than 5 years, I would say go use it and just pick some up before your trip, rather than require the additional cleaning of the stove.
